I appear to have this same problem and it wasn’t instigated by me. I had a message about some updates needing installation and a restart was required.

Now I come back and I am getting a couple of messages in the File tab of Outlook Which I have been using for several years with no problems. Since the only thing that has occurred is an automatic update of my PC via the Auto Updates feature, I am at a loss as to why I am getting this fault.

While I did upgrade to Office a while back, I’ve continued to use Outlook with no problems. I exclusively use my ATT email account and don’t mess with Hotmail or any other mail accounts so connector seems to be a moot point. Outlook was working this morning, my PC asked for a restart to continue with an auto update. I accepted, and now Outlook is broken. I was able to resolve this on my own, in the end. I did two things to resolve my problem.

As a side note, I am running Windows 8. First, I uninstalled the update that was the probable culprit, since it had a date which was the same as when the problem started. This did not appear to resolve the problem, as I still had the same error messages in Outlook I do feel this update was the root of the problem because it was the only thing that occurred on the computer remotely close to when the problem appeared.

Clicked on Office and an option to Uninstall or Change showed at the top of the window.

 
 

 

Outlook ‘s infinite “Upgrade in Progress” – Microsoft Community

 
I recently got Office and since I have it, my outlook has been displaying “upgrade in progress” because of which I can’t log in or add. Windows 10 started an upgrade. In the process, Outlook wanted to upgrade to Somewhere therein it got stuck and now refuses to open.
